Openreach прекратит аналоговое обслуживание в еще 46 телефонных линиях

Openreach, a leading telecommunications company in the UK, has recently announced its plans to expand its full fibre network by adding 46 new exchange locations across the country. This expansion will cover an additional 344,000 premises, encouraging the adoption of new digital services and phasing out the sale of legacy analogue services. In order to facilitate this transition, Openreach will no longer be selling copper-based products or services in these exchange areas.

This move is part of a larger initiative by BT, Openreach's parent company, to switch off the existing analogue phoneline platform by the end of December 2025. This means that everyone in the UK will need to have a digital phone line before this deadline. By stopping the sale of copper-based analogue services in exchange areas where a majority of premises have access to Openreach's full fibre network, the company aims to create a simplified network that can better meet the needs of an increasingly digital society.

This transition from copper to fibre is expected to be as significant as the shift from analogue to digital and black and white TV to colour. A spokesperson for Openreach stated, By eventually retiring analogue phone lines, we will be creating a simplified network which allows us to meet the enhanced needs of an increasingly digital society. That's why over the next few years, we'll be upgrading just under nine million remaining analogue lines to new digital ones, including the traditional landline telephone service.

Openreach's full fibre network is already available to over 12.8 million homes and businesses nationwide. As more premises gain access to this ultrafast full fibre connection, customers will no longer be able to purchase old copper products and will ideally be able to enjoy the benefits of Openreach's new service. Overall, this expansion and transition from analogue to digital services marks a significant step towards a more advanced and efficient telecommunications network in the UK.
